Get to Know the Founder: Steven from InLend

Most people don't spend 20 years in banking unless they genuinely love helping people solve problems.

Steven from InLend is one of those people.

What might surprise you, though, is that banking wasn't actually part of the original plan.

"I studied IT," Steven laughs. "I went into banking thinking it would be short term."

Twenty-one years later, after building a career across lending, credit assessment, coaching and property finance, that "short-term" role turned into a deep understanding of how Australians build wealth through property.

And along the way, he discovered something important.

"Whilst lending might seem simple to me, it's not simple for the average Aussie."

That's ultimately what led him to launch InLend.

After two decades working behind the scenes assessing home loan applications, supporting brokers and navigating complex lending scenarios, Steven realised he wanted to take everything he'd learned and use it directly with clients.

"It would've been criminal not to share what's upstairs in my head," he says.

Today, Steven works with everyone from first-home buyers and young investors through to growing families and experienced property owners. But no matter who sits across the table, his role is often the same: part broker, part translator, part educator.

Whether he's explaining guarantor loans to nervous parents, helping young buyers understand their options, or navigating changing lending policies, Steven's focus is always on making the process feel less overwhelming.

"People can only make good decisions when they've got the right knowledge."

Outside of the technical side of lending, what stands out most is how relationship-driven he is. Ask him what makes a great broker and the answer isn't interest rates or loan products.

"I'm not transactional," he says. "I want to build relationships for the long term."

His advice for business owners and property buyers alike?

Stay close to the professionals you trust.

"We're here to help you on your journey. The more informed you are, the better decisions you can make."

Because for Steven, great lending isn't really about loans at all — it's about helping people create opportunities for their future.
